About Google Analytics 4 Landing Page Report

Google Analytics 4 tracks everything about your site—including landing pages, the pages where people first arrive on your site. Your homepage or blog index might get more overall traffic, but your top landing page is likely the page linked to from a popular website or one that recently went viral after a marketing campaign. The easiest way to pinpoint those crucial pages that make a first impression on your site visitors is with a landing page report.

Google Analytics 4 counts landing pages as the page where a visitor’s session starts on your site. Each unique time they visit your site—perhaps clicking one link to your site today, then tomorrow opening your home page directly—counts as a unique session. Every time someone visits the same page, that counts as a page view—so if the same person visits a page, clicks an internal link, then goes back to the original page, that counts as two page views. If they visit your site for less than 10 seconds before going back, that counts as a bounce—and your bounce rate is counted as a ratio of all sessions versus bounced sessions. And if they stay on your site longer than 10 seconds, that counts as an engaged session.

In this Google Analytics 4 report, you can quickly view your site’s top 10 landing pages, along with each page’s unique sessions, page views, bounce rate, engaged sessions rate, average time on page in minutes, and average events per session. You can also find the sites that refer the most traffic to your site, how many of your site’s sessions they’re responsible for, and which referring sites send the most engaged or most likely to bounce visitors.
