Instagram Engagement Rate Calculator

Calculate the engagement rate of an Instagram account using likes and comments to a set of posts, and the number of followers.

With a follower base of 1,000 users, if your last 10 posts generated 50 likes and 18 comments, your engagement rate is 0.68%.

The Instagram Engagement Rate Calculator helps you calculate the engagement rate of your account by comparing the reactions generated by your Instagram posts to your follower base. In other words, it measures how good you are at engaging with your followers.

It uses the following input:

  • Number of posts = number of Instagram posts to be considered in the analysis

  • Likes = total number of likes generated

  • Comments = total number of comments generated

  • Number of followers

The engagement rate is calculated as follows:

Engagement rate = [(Likes + Comments) / Number of Posts] / Number of followers

According to Scrunch, an engagement rate of:

  • Less than 1% = low engagement rate

  • Between 1% and 3.5% = average/good engagement rate

  • Between 3.5% and 6% = high engagement rate

  • Above 6% = very high engagement rate

Keep in mind that there are multiple factors influencing the engagement rate of each individual post such as the time of day, frequency of your posts, quality of the post and overall relevance to your audience.
