Every week I post about one thing that happened at Rows. We're building in public! ---

Last week's main thing was the launch of Instant Rows⚡️.

With this change, using Rows requires no signup, no emails, no captchas. Nothing. We replaced our homepage at https://rows.com with the actual product, for you to use.

This is the new experience on a desktop!

  • so if you've never used Rows or are on a new computer, when you open rows.com then you get an instant spreadsheet!

  • of course, if you are signed in into an account, well, we load your workspaces, folders and spreadsheets for you;

  • finally, if you absolutely must save the world and James Bond asks you to to a quick pivot table, now you can also start an incognito window, open rows.com and BAM. We load an Instant Rows account for you; kill the incognito window and it's gone.

This is what it looks like:

Instant Rows

(Hey, you can still see our Marketing pages at rows.com/product.)

Why did we do it?

  1. We want to build the fastest spreadsheet, and that includes the fastest time to start up.

  2. We really like other products who do this. Hats off to Excalidraw, Puter and others who showed us the way. (We've also learned from their experience).

  3. We want to experiment more interactive types of onboarding. It's hard for me to think as something more real than starting off with the spreadsheet itself. Maybe this will result in more long term converts!

We will learn a lot from Instant Rows⚡️ and iterate from here.

Convenience matters.

Last week Rows became the easiest, fastest way to use a spreadsheet in the world.

See you next week!
