In Rows, you can easily import data from one spreadsheet to another, similar to the IMPORTRANGE
function. This is useful when you need to share data across different spreadsheets while keeping it updated dynamically.
Importing data
Using Insert button
Here's how you can import data from a different spreadsheet using the Insert button on the format bar —
- Navigate to Insert > Data Table > Use Table range
- From the side panel, select the source from the Spreadsheet dropdown
- Next, select the table that needs to be imported from the Table dropdown
- Finally, click on Build Table with all data
Using Data button
Here's how you can import data from a different spreadsheet using the Data button on the format bar —
- Click on Data
- Search for Table Range from the sidebar and select it from the Sources
- From the side panel, select the source from the Spreadsheet dropdown
- Next, select the table that needs to be imported from the Table dropdown
- Finally, click on Build Table with all data
Permissions and Sharing
- You can import tables from spreadsheets where you have Editor access.
- You can search for spreadsheets and modify the range you are importing.
- If you have access to a spreadsheet that contains an imported table from another spreadsheet you do not manage, you won’t be able to modify its range. However, you can select another spreadsheet and table instead.
Updating and Refreshing Data
- Imported tables automatically update every minute (no additional setup required).
