Every week I post about one thing that happened at Rows. We're building in public!

It's the Sunday night before coming back to work from 2 weeks of vacations.

The most exciting thing (work related) is to open the email app, which was on Focus mode (no alerts)! This will be a short building in public post.

blog - unread email495 unread emails.

I think the best thing to do is to bucket them into groups.

  • 7 are intros, of which 3 are requests for me to intro to someone else.

  • 3 are invitations to in-person events.

  • 17 are admin or operations for Rows - 1 for missing invoices, 3 for doc signing, 1 for parental leave updates, 1 for vacation approval and 1 for hiring updates; the rest are general product or news threads within the team.

  • 6 are ongoing partnerships with other companies.

  • 25 are account updates (zoom, chargebee, bank, bank).

  • 48 are spam or cold intros for tools, outsourcing, and other sh*t.

  • 3 are investor updates of companies I did small angel tickets.

  • a handful (5!) are investors convos.

  • the other ~400 are user emails. Just over half are email auto-responders from vacations, about 50 are new or updated feature requests at feedback.rows.com, and the last 100+ are still TBD - I need to sort them, but many seem to be comments on the product, about 20 are just congratulations and general thanks, and also about a dozen of requests for help — among which, the request for Spanish translation is the most common.

Tomorrow I will go head first into a general status update, then marketing/sales, product, and if time allows, I'll spend a nice evening cleaning up the email backlog. Emails are rarely *the* most important thing!
